About

Yitzchak Greenbaum, an expert in preservation and restoration of antiques, has been engaged in the field since 2012, making every effort to give his clients and their antiques a responsible and professional service, with maximum respect.

Our history, as a nation, is engraved in letters of gold and blood on countless scrolls, manuscripts and printed books.

As the “People of the Book,” Jews have, throughout the generations, invested immensely in documenting and preserving the treasures of our history. Between the words and lines, we find stirring revelations of Torah greatness, testimonies of historical importance and rich spiritual nostalgia.

First edition Torah books, valuable documents, a grandparents’ Ketubah, a letter from a famous personality or a Kemiah for protection and blessing, all these and more connect us to the glorious past of our nation, and preserve our heritage for the generations to come.

How can I ensure the future of the ancient treasure in my possession?

In order to prolong the life of the book or manuscripts, it is necessary to have professional knowledge, skill acquired by years of experience, sensitivity and a strong love for the holy work and what it symbolizes.

Antique conservation is not just another profession – it is an art!

To remove the bookworms; fill the holes; clean the rot; resew; fix the torn papers; remove old glue; renovate the cover or rebind with a new cover from leather, parchment or wood, in exact conformity with the period and region where the book was printed.

Everything needed to touch the past and relive it.

Some history about myself

I acquired the profession of restoration – preserving and restoring books, and binding antiques – from the top experts in the field. From 2012 I studied under the mythological bookbinder Aryeh Korach, an expert bookbinder, one of the few who treated antiquities in those years. Although his work style was primitive, he equipped me with the basic rules and understanding of paper and binding.

I continued to study bookbinding under the experts, who bind manually with the methods used from the Renaissance.

For further training in paper restoration, I traveled to Florence, Italy, famous for its many museums and the art of developed antiques.

I added extensive knowledge and professionalism in private lessons with a teacher from Florence’s Institute of Art and Restoration Palazzo Spinelli, whose clients include Italy’s museums. Later I gained much experience in restoring books of Judaica collectors, as well as artistic bindings for libraries.

Now we will build a future

My vision for the coming years is to revive the story of our nation’s past in the most meticulous and elegant way. To give each age-old page, professional and artistic care with much responsibility and love, so the story can continue to pass on to future generations, with the upmost perfection and splendor.
